TO DO
🚀 NEXT STEPS (Immediate/Next Up)
Donation/tip jar for early supporters
Wednesday breaky breaks
Flesh out DIY CMS more (do you want the junk drawer/experiments to be part of this or its own separate page?)
Planning on signatures/metadata stuff for my content (audio-wise you could do ultrasonic sound signature or something inaudible; although mp3s might kill it with compression)
⚡ SHORT-TERM (Stuff to Do Soon)
Syndication & auto-sharing on major platforms (You don't need to DO this yet, but just start understanding how you *would* do it)
Contact forms: If you add one, avoid directly exposing emails; use form handlers or obfuscation.
Contact/Leave a note/chat feature
Visitor analytics/logging (Privacy based; not google analytics. Possibly something like PLausible or simple server logs)
THE AD DUNGEON (and how to actually sync it to getting me actually paid from the chaos LOL); "There's no ads anywhere else on this site. This is where they all are. Are you ready for torture? Turn off your ad blocker and get ready for sheckles.
Start fleshing out the *LOOK* and theming of your site
🎯 LONG-TERM & IDEAS (Big Picture Goals)
Make site usable & fun so people prefer it over syndicated content
Buy a domain once plan is solid
Multiple hosting trick (Neocities + Nekoweb with same homepage). It doesn't really help you with content creation or hosting, but it *can* drive traffic. So it's best left for when you have something that you wish to drive traffic *towards*. Ya know; having a functional website & actual available content.
Research auto-update workflows for Neocities & Nekoweb (GitHub → hosting automation)
Flesh out aesthetics (animations, backgrounds, characters)
Syndication & auto-sharing on major platforms
Implement RSS feed or similar. Maybe a newsletter?
Visitor analytics/logging (Privacy based; not google analytics. Possibly something like PLausible or simple server logs)
I would need to think of a real purpose for these. If I get significant traffic, A/B testing to see what drives things, optimizing funnels, hosting own monetized content (directly on my site), growth and trend tracking. Analytics only start being important when: 1. Your site traffic is meaningful, 2. You have multiple things competing for attention or conversion, 3. You’re actively experimenting to increase engagement/revenue. Before that, it’s mostly busywork or potential ego traps, especially for a personal hub where the money metrics live elsewhere. So for now, you can safely ignore it and focus on content and engagement features—then add minimal analytics later if/when your site starts hitting the thresholds above.
Contact forms: If you add one, avoid directly exposing emails; use form handlers or obfuscation. No point implementing too quick.
More Captain Googly-Purr interactions
Single-page character/elements per page
Donation/tip jar for early supporters
Possible: 2nd version of guestbook allowing extended features like doodles and the like. (I'd have to do my own backend though I think? Like through a server? It'd definitely be more setup from what I can tell; there's not really a free service that apparently does this out of the box and allows enough entries -- pika does it but it allows 50 entries on free tier. So ew.) Also, could make "reply" threads a thing too (like HTMLCommentBox does, but ya know, no banner ads).
Make the password gate link page a little more fun (and change the "environment variables" to a password that's more fun, LOL)
🎨 UI (Visual & Interaction Design)
“SERVAL DA PLACE UP” (overall site style)
Animate cursor? (Can animate the cursor itself via GIF; can add effects with Scripts)
Wallpaper swapping (fursona energy themed)
Nav items light up + audio/visual effects (Homestar Runner style)
Pixel art zoomed out for weird edges
Limited animations with real-life feel
Silly “things raining” or random animations
Stupid animations (please yes)
Assistant like Clippy?
Overlapping elements/clips for chaotic style
Clear hover states on links (or not, for easter eggs)
Design vibe: layout, color, fonts, zones per page
Images that change on hover
Cursed tooltips
Small head-insert images in title or UI
Consider tone balance like in your VRChat profile, to cover your ass being in different moods and showing different parts of you all at once. I began shitpost-heavy first, but I want the website to contain the multitudes of how I am.
📝 Update Page Suggestions
CSS styling for update page
Hover underline effects on nav links
Use semantic <time datetime=""> for dates
Styled dividers or ASCII art for sections
Animated sparkle effect next to “UPDATE LOG” header
🔧 CMS Thoughts
Multi-tag checking and limits
Search function
Pagination & tag logic
Tag combiner UI (filtering by multiple tags)
“Recently added” list
Context-aware navigation (“If you liked this, check out...”)
Have *some* sort of way for visitors to interact with the content; namely leaving a comment or reacting somehow.
📱 Mobile Edits
Cursor (make either accessible or invisible; idk how that works on mobile)
Draggable character; do something about it
UPDATE LOG
Was checking over things on the website to decide if my early energy is too cringe. It's cute and energetic IMO and yes probably cringe but the oh so good cringe. I mean I kinda fell off Dr. Starline a bit but I mean he's still a pretty boy and also other things I said on this ya know what I'm keeping it fuck all this. I've actually started picking up Resonite btw and it's making my brain tired. No idea if it'll last but hey I'm TRYIN okay?? I leiks teh duplicatin mahself.
Holy crap time is a nimble bitch. I've been offsite working on muh videos. They're not quite done yet but getting like 80% of the way there I'd think?
I made some updates to my YT channel pics & channel descriptor. Also updated "ABOOTPAEG" on here to say "MASCOT EXTRAORDINAIRE" instead of "FURSONA". Just for distinction pawposes.
Spend last few days *really* trying to work on what my brand is. Wrote up a mission statement and rewrote my public facing social media bio (for YT atm, but could go elsewhere)
For website; taking out placeholder buttons for "guysandgal-lerie-s": "poem," "horny," "queer," "audio". Put in some placeholder text for the moment.
Moved the root directory for all my "Mr. TLQWH" projects, including the root folder for this website. Using this update to test that it's working and can still commit/push as normal. Reow.
Doing a lot of off-site stuff. Video stuff - workin on video titling structure (Invented "VVMoMT" after a lot of naming experimentation), how to structure the videos, how to practically get the them done, how to think about monetization at this stage (AKA, don't besides donations, LOL). Worked on folder/file naming structures.
Workin more on uhhhhh the uhhh payment page stuff. Leik funn-ee HURLARIOUS stuffs withs its.
Made SUPER cool donation thank u drawin (so kewl). Made an paeg 4 it. Considering separate pages for each donation link buttt eh tired and I got other things to get to LOL. Potential future idea tho.
Got 2FA stuff setup for off-site things. Think that officially means I can start gettin to work on content again WOOP WOOP.
More payment processor shiz. Ko-Fi (via Stripe) needed ID documents and aaaaaa.
Got donation links up on the just-the-tip page at last. Got more work to do on em but they're up.
Was discussing it with ChatGPT and I've decided that I'm going to INTENTIONALLY utilize anti-SEO, small-cult strategies. FILTER OUT THE NORMIES REEEEEEEEEEEEE
Stuck my ugly-ass github link pages for other platforms & donation links onto my youtube description.
More offsite financial stuffs. ID to Tip Top Jar, Connected Paypal to bank, made Stripe profile live, hooked up Ko-Fi and Tip Top Jar to Paypal/Stripe, whatever.
Started signing up for Paypal business, Ko-Fi, Tip Top Jar and Stripe. All of it made me want to fucking die. Kill me. So as it turns out even Ko-Fi and Tip Top Jar operate through Paypal and other processors so it's like...wow great job. I have to use paypal ANYWAY. Problem is?? I'm trying to get it to fuckin NOT display my real life information like my address, real name and phone number. Ughhhh. I'll just focus on just paypal next time to see if I can get it to work but fuck that drained me haha.
I did even more fiddle-fucking with everything. I *THINK* I should be able to hide my name but wow these websites don't make it easy to tell if it'll actually work or not. Mamma mia.
Decided to hold off on implementing a contact form. I have early-level user interaction via the guestbook, even if it looks like shit rn. The feature isn't pretty at the moment but it *IS* available and functional. So I suppose we could move onwards and forwards.
Slightly modified some HTML code to be more correct. Also fixed a typo on the homepage.
Considering my donation options again. It seems that Cash-App & Venmo are more peer-to-peer US based services? Whereas things like Tip Top Jar, Paypal and Ko-Fi are more aligned with donating towards creative types (such as yours truly). ChatGPT had this to say about it: "Venmo/Cash App are more like sending money to a friend — casual, fast, and memey. Your current three are designed for creators, making them more intuitive for visitors who want to support your content." Ofc if visitors would *LIKE* those in the future I'm game. I'm just going off of my research here, aha. I'm a fuckin millennial what do ya fuckin want from me I live in a basement and my social life is vrchat and various types of flora in the woods (fauna too if they're slow enough).
Deciding on user engagement stuff more. Decided livechats are too much moderation for me. I'd love a guestbook though.
Was looking into options for more engagement within the guestbook. Seems that enabling attachments poses security risks. Doodles seem fun but it's a bit of a headache to setup with the tools available; may be a future project if it's a future desired feature from users & myself.
I'm *already* using github but I found out that Neocities free-tier has CSP (content security policy) shit that makes some coding stuff more of a headache. I'll still probably hook up a splash to Neocities to redirect, but hosting-wise I think I'll stick with Git (those delicious version controls and Git pushes w/VS Code? Fuckin *MWAH* I'm gonna get hard).
Lookin through my options for Guestbooks. I like how HTMLCommentBox (HCB) has replies ready but from what I read, it has banner ads on free-tiers? If so, big oof. Maybe not. I think I'll go with Atabook instead; it's free, no banner ads, you can embed, etc. Only problem is it doesn't really do smooth reply thread stuff but ehhhhhhhhh it's a guestbook who gives a shit.
Made atabook account, modified settings, embeded it VERY POORLY into the homepage for the moment. Wrote text to inform ppl (and myself) about this shiz. Meep moop.
Updated navigation links on each page to have the "title" attribute included.
Made the internet archive actually WORK (turns out I had two "@'s" in the address...oooops, LOL)
Updated some stuff on the ABOOTPAEG (for Mr. TLQWH; changing vague species classification stuff, adjusting name stuff)
More planning for going forward.
Decided, for the moment, there's no real point in having any sort of analytics on my website, even minimal. Probably more of a mental distraction/ego trap at this point. Put these specifications under "to do" in "long-term" for the moment.
Discussing w/ChatGPT what sort of user engagement things to have on my website.
Been working on figuring out some syndication stuff the last few days (off-site stuff).
Linked the donation page in homepage footer and changed some text on home-page to reflect this.
Introduced more swearing on the home page.
Changed some purrmissions text.
Became 12.5% cuter today as a person, but it was temporary and then the fall from grace happened because life is ephemeral. "Whatever it is, it shall give you spare change."
Created a links page for my off-site stuffz and put it in navigaytion.
Using ChatGPT to help me think through MONEY MAKING. DIRTY SHECKLES. GETTING MY HANDS ON THE DOUGH. And just-the-tip jars.
Decided which starter payment processors to use for giving me the big, dripping, veiny tip. Also created the bareboner HTML page to host the links at. (Where da zeldas?...also if you don't get this joke I don't even know what to tell you. I wonder what's for dinnur mah boi mah boi how can we help)
Created "purrmissions.html" basic page
Went through other content protection stuff. Seems the basics are where it's at and the rest is overkill OR it doesn't really stop malefactors.
Planning out what to hit up next.
Updated the cursor a little bit for the time being (the tail was annoying me lol)
Started working on the code for a character to click and drag around the screen.
Went through the HTML and desktop setup for the character drag beta. (May want to do mobile version too and *then* look at the CSS).
Got the character drag functional on desktop live server. Got it working on the hosted site too.
Started working on content protection stuffs.
It took two hours today but THE PASSWORD GATE IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL!! I'm not gonna link it here cuz it haz my other username stuff (to onboard ppl from VRChat), but it fucking WORKS. I had to upload the password gate files to GitHub, fix some errors and stuff, and then link to Netlify and use "environment variables" to actually SET the password but it fuckin WORKS, BUDDY. SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Finally *mostly* understand what's happening on the password onboarding page. Still hurts my head (thanks Javascript) but I got an alright understanding of it, so I can actually start deploying it now.
Put "Reminders" section into this page (Updates).
Working more on understanding my password onboarding page (yes, line by line even tho it's already generated because I want to understand it ALL. I DON'T CARE IF IT'S SCRIPT, I'M GONNA LEARN. I WILL LEARN IF IT TAKES ALL MONTH. SCREW OFF. (ilu <3)
Working with the Favicon. It was being a pain in the ass so took awhile.
Modified fox pixel art to become a cursor for my website that I made before (even added a little arrow in the upper left)
Started going through code to implement my fox cursor
After a bunch of my shit BITCHING OUT, I found out I need "./" before a lot of assets for Git commits. Fuck me, dude. I'm so tired. It's almost 4am I am so tired I fucking jerked off to some /gfur reddit yiff and then was like hey this shouldn't take too long but here I am I stg but hey at LEAST the cursor is working now even if I want to die from this stupid shit aghhh but hey it works it's working things are GOING ALRIGHT also the fox looks cute as hell as my cursor rn ngl.
Checking if commit push works via VS Code pushing (source control shiz)
Seems my GitHub is pretty much set up for me to push commits to now, so I can move on. Hooray!!
Reorganizing what things to hit next
Started messing around with cursor stuffs
Got Github & GitBash setup. Send in first commit. Made website beta live too to make sure it works.
Started considering what I want my nav bar to look like in more detail. What i want it to do and look like.
Turned "browsin.html" (which is for DIY CMS display) into "guysandgal-lerie-s.html" (Haha GET it it's like guys & gals but it's like galleries cuz it's a gallery HAHAHAHAHAAHA)
Made ABOOTPAEG even *MORE* epic by adding, yes, my OWN bio to it now!!11!!
Prettyin up the splash spage with MORE OPTIOSN and TEXTs for the NO BABIES zone. and whAT?? a BUTTONN?? WAHT DOES THAT DOO???
Also I flicked the bean of the pages title thingy in da head to say othur stuff. Don't worry about what it said beforehand. i didn't document it and forgor. yw.
ChatGPT bullied me and made me add some Aria accessibility stuff in my navigation WAAAAA
However it did make me find out about adding titles in funny '< >' thingy which is the funny hovertext so OOOOOO win
Update page updates page updates - HTML div to large sections, then sections in the sextions, details.
Went through Notion and added a BUNCH of stuff to the the updates/to-do page. Well actually I put it in a "barf pile" and then asked ChatGPT to help split it up. And then it put emojis in front of it and I left it cuz it helps visually oh ho ho ho ho.
Planning out Static Site personalized, DIY specialized-CMS (via JS)
Building out CMS bones in HTML, JS and JSON. (Took a really long time because I wanted to do my best to understand EVERY single line we were putting in. LMAO.)
created /css/style.css
Put in basic YouTube Embed and modified with style.css
Created barebones Hyperlink Navigation!! YAAAYY!!!
Longer-term Planning: Scaling from 2D (website) → 1D (social media) → 3D (Resonite). Community building. Then: moss cabin, queer commune, capitalism goes in the trash. Profit from quirky empire of cuddles & kisses & spiritual boners xoxoxoxo MWAHAHAAHAHA
More planning: why Captain Googly-Purr is the best UI/UX decision evar and nobody else can argue because he is so cute and awesome and amazing and I love him and he made me cry like hours after I created him (possibly accidentally) and was talking to ChatGPT about it all and it made me more emotional cuz my heart oooooo OOO but also shhhh these are updatelogs back to not crying. Oh but also yeah i want to make him interact with the website more so I planned more. Kinda.
Created HTML for the about page; Captain Googly-Purr
Started working on Password Link onboarding page (linking from websites privately)
