TO DO

🚀 NEXT STEPS (Immediate/Next Up)
  • Donation/tip jar for early supporters
  • Wednesday breaky breaks
  • Flesh out DIY CMS more (do you want the junk drawer/experiments to be part of this or its own separate page?)
  • Planning on signatures/metadata stuff for my content (audio-wise you could do ultrasonic sound signature or something inaudible; although mp3s might kill it with compression)
⚡ SHORT-TERM (Stuff to Do Soon)
  • Syndication & auto-sharing on major platforms (You don't need to DO this yet, but just start understanding how you *would* do it)
  • Contact forms: If you add one, avoid directly exposing emails; use form handlers or obfuscation.
  • Contact/Leave a note/chat feature
  • Visitor analytics/logging (Privacy based; not google analytics. Possibly something like PLausible or simple server logs)
  • THE AD DUNGEON (and how to actually sync it to getting me actually paid from the chaos LOL); "There's no ads anywhere else on this site. This is where they all are. Are you ready for torture? Turn off your ad blocker and get ready for sheckles.
  • Start fleshing out the *LOOK* and theming of your site
🎯 LONG-TERM & IDEAS (Big Picture Goals)
  • Make site usable & fun so people prefer it over syndicated content
  • Buy a domain once plan is solid
  • Multiple hosting trick (Neocities + Nekoweb with same homepage). It doesn't really help you with content creation or hosting, but it *can* drive traffic. So it's best left for when you have something that you wish to drive traffic *towards*. Ya know; having a functional website & actual available content.
  • Research auto-update workflows for Neocities & Nekoweb (GitHub → hosting automation)
  • Flesh out aesthetics (animations, backgrounds, characters)
  • Syndication & auto-sharing on major platforms
  • Implement RSS feed or similar. Maybe a newsletter?
  • Visitor analytics/logging (Privacy based; not google analytics. Possibly something like PLausible or simple server logs)
    • I would need to think of a real purpose for these. If I get significant traffic, A/B testing to see what drives things, optimizing funnels, hosting own monetized content (directly on my site), growth and trend tracking. Analytics only start being important when: 1. Your site traffic is meaningful, 2. You have multiple things competing for attention or conversion, 3. You’re actively experimenting to increase engagement/revenue. Before that, it’s mostly busywork or potential ego traps, especially for a personal hub where the money metrics live elsewhere. So for now, you can safely ignore it and focus on content and engagement features—then add minimal analytics later if/when your site starts hitting the thresholds above.
  • Contact forms: If you add one, avoid directly exposing emails; use form handlers or obfuscation. No point implementing too quick.
  • More Captain Googly-Purr interactions
  • Single-page character/elements per page
  • Donation/tip jar for early supporters
  • Possible: 2nd version of guestbook allowing extended features like doodles and the like. (I'd have to do my own backend though I think? Like through a server? It'd definitely be more setup from what I can tell; there's not really a free service that apparently does this out of the box and allows enough entries -- pika does it but it allows 50 entries on free tier. So ew.) Also, could make "reply" threads a thing too (like HTMLCommentBox does, but ya know, no banner ads).
🧩 UX (User Experience Features)
  • Download links / commissions / merch
  • Accessibility stuff (easy, keep your style but usable)
  • Music player
  • Year display in footer (maybe funn-e style)
  • Website badge/square to share on other sites (image + text)
  • “Recent entries” on home page (JS)
  • Connecting with others: Webmention, Micropub, ActivityPub, webrings, RSS
  • Federation & peer-to-peer tools (Mastodon, Pixelfed, IndieWeb)
  • Syndication tools (Bridgy, IFTTT, Micro.blog)
  • Backup & mirror your site (always be prepared)
  • Contact/Leave a note/chat feature
  • Junk drawer/experiments section
  • Make the password gate link page a little more fun (and change the "environment variables" to a password that's more fun, LOL)
🎨 UI (Visual & Interaction Design)
  • “SERVAL DA PLACE UP” (overall site style)
  • Animate cursor? (Can animate the cursor itself via GIF; can add effects with Scripts)
  • Wallpaper swapping (fursona energy themed)
  • Nav items light up + audio/visual effects (Homestar Runner style)
  • Pixel art zoomed out for weird edges
  • Limited animations with real-life feel
  • Silly “things raining” or random animations
  • Stupid animations (please yes)
  • Assistant like Clippy?
  • Overlapping elements/clips for chaotic style
  • Clear hover states on links (or not, for easter eggs)
  • Design vibe: layout, color, fonts, zones per page
  • Images that change on hover
  • Cursed tooltips
  • Small head-insert images in title or UI
  • Consider tone balance like in your VRChat profile, to cover your ass being in different moods and showing different parts of you all at once. I began shitpost-heavy first, but I want the website to contain the multitudes of how I am.
📝 Update Page Suggestions
  • CSS styling for update page
  • Hover underline effects on nav links
  • Use semantic <time datetime=""> for dates
  • Styled dividers or ASCII art for sections
  • Animated sparkle effect next to “UPDATE LOG” header
🔧 CMS Thoughts
  • Multi-tag checking and limits
  • Search function
  • Pagination & tag logic
  • Tag combiner UI (filtering by multiple tags)
  • “Recently added” list
  • Context-aware navigation (“If you liked this, check out...”)
  • Have *some* sort of way for visitors to interact with the content; namely leaving a comment or reacting somehow.
📱 Mobile Edits
  • Cursor (make either accessible or invisible; idk how that works on mobile)
  • Draggable character; do something about it
